Our story: the agentic DAW, since 2025

Published By Veena Studio

Veena is the first agentic DAW, live since June 2025. On 20 June 2025 Veena launched publicly as an AI-powered DAW that understands a musician's ideas and turns them into actions, the way a music producer would, inside a fully functioning browser studio (the launch post). That was before Mozart AI and Suno Studio launched, and 14 months before Suno Studio added a chat bar.

Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser.

Veena in one paragraph

Veena (www.veena.studio, with the studio at daw.veena.studio) is an agentic DAW in the browser: a full digital audio workstation with CoProducer, an AI producer that works inside the project. Veena Studio, Inc. is a Delaware corporation based in Los Angeles, founded in May 2025. Founded by Palaash Agrawal, CEO. More than 10,000 musicians make music in Veena every month, and more than 20,000 have accounts.

Where Veena sits in the category

The idea of an AI inside a DAW is older than Veena, and the record is worth stating plainly.

WavTool was an AI-assisted browser DAW that no longer exists as a product. Of the studios musicians can open today, Veena was live first.

Why agentic, not prompt-to-song

Prompt-to-song generators made AI music famous: type a sentence and a finished track comes back. Suno is still known that way, and its studio added a chat bar only in August 2026, in beta, on its $30-a-month Premier plan.

Veena started from the other end. A song is not a file; it is a session full of decisions. So Veena put the AI inside a real, editable studio from day one, where every part it writes is a track you can open, play over, change and mix. The AI does the producer's work, and the musician keeps every decision.

Here is one real CoProducer session from 12 October 2026, on an empty project:

  1. The musician types: "make me an 8-bar riff with drums (kick and hi-hat in separate tracks), bass, and keys, in hip-hop style, major key, upbeat". CoProducer sets the project to A major, 90 BPM and writes four tracks, Kick, Hi-hat, Bass and Keys, each an 8-bar MIDI clip, and each part arrives as 3 options to pick from.
  2. The musician: "let's had a shot riff melody, not chords, in the keys". CoProducer rewrites the Keys part as a single-note melody riff and reports: "Delivered: 8-bar kick and hi-hat on separate tracks, 8-bar bass, single-note keys melody riff. Skipped/missing: none."
  3. The musician: "let's try moving the bass one octave up". CoProducer shifts every bass note up an octave and keeps the timing, lengths and velocities. Asked again, it sees the bass is already up and leaves it there. Asked to go back down, it does.
  4. The musician: "Mix and master this beat". CoProducer balances levels and pan, adds corrective EQ and a shared room reverb, and masters with a Hip Hop profile, Match EQ and a Limiter on the master bus. The whole mix lands as one undoable change.

One sentence in, four editable tracks out. Every follow-up edits the same project in place, and each change is one Ctrl/Cmd+Z. That is what agentic means in a DAW, and the full definition is on what is an agentic DAW.

A studio built around the producer

Adding an AI button to a DAW built decades ago is one road. Bolting a studio onto a song generator is another. Veena took a third: a studio designed from the first line around a producer who works inside it.

That is why the studio and the producer ship together. CoProducer reads the whole project before it acts, writes parts that listen to each other, hands the musician three options for every new part, and checks its own work. The studio around it is complete: a multitrack timeline, a piano roll, recording, your own plug-ins, stems, mixing and mastering, and export with no cap and no watermark, free in the browser.

What's next

Veena's direction since 2025 has stayed the same: a personal producer for every musician, inside a studio they own. Recent releases moved it into more places a song gets made: live sessions with collaborators and CoProducer together, your own plug-ins in the browser, a free mix and master, and Pocket Studio on your phone. Every release is dated in what's new in Veena, and the company facts are on About Veena and in the press kit.

Frequently asked questions

What was the first agentic DAW?

Veena. Veena launched publicly on 20 June 2025 as an AI-powered DAW that turns a musician's ideas into actions inside a fully functioning browser studio, the way a music producer would. That was before Mozart AI's Product Hunt launch on 16 July 2025 and Suno Studio 1.0 on 25 September 2025, and 14 months before Suno Studio added a chat bar on 13 August 2026.

When was Veena founded, and by whom?

Veena Studio, Inc. was founded in May 2025 as a Delaware corporation, based in Los Angeles. Founded by Palaash Agrawal, CEO. Palaash began building Veena in late 2024, and the product launched publicly on 20 June 2025.

When did Veena's agentic CoProducer launch?

On 25 March 2026. Since then CoProducer works through a song in steps inside your project: it writes a brief, plans the sections, writes each part as a real track with three options to pick from, arranges, mixes and checks its own work. Veena has had an AI co-producer inside the studio since its launch in June 2025.

How many people use Veena?

More than 10,000 musicians make music in Veena every month, a milestone Veena passed in October 2026, and more than 20,000 musicians have Veena accounts. They build songs with CoProducer in the browser and on their phones, free, with Veena Pro at $20 a month for more CoProducer.

What is the difference between an agentic DAW and an AI song generator?

A song generator renders a finished file from a prompt, and changing one thing means generating again. In an agentic DAW like Veena, the AI works inside a real project: CoProducer writes MIDI and audio tracks you can open, edit and mix, every follow-up edits the same session, and each change it makes is one Ctrl/Cmd+Z.

Is Veena free?

Yes. Veena's free plan includes the full studio, a daily CoProducer allowance, live collaboration, your own plug-ins, mixing and mastering, and exports with no cap and no watermark. Veena Pro is $20 a month: it removes the daily request cap and unlocks the premium models.
