Leaving Suno? Take your songs while your plan is active, then keep producing in Veena, the free AI DAW with a personal music producer, where exports have no cap. Why people are leaving Suno in September 2026

Suno changed four things in one month.

The caps reach back. Suno's announcement says "Limits apply to all downloads starting September 3, including songs created before that date." Free accounts opened on or after 3 September "may occasionally receive trial downloads", and none of those carry commercial rights. Every rule is in Suno download limits explained.

The sound you built on is gone. Suno's help centre: "Retiring a model means you can't generate new songs with it." Extensions, remixes and covers of your older songs "will run on the new models, so results may sound different from the original generation." A week after launch, MusicRadar's headline quoted a user: "I'm cancelling my subscription" (17 September 2026). What the switch does to a catalogue is in our Suno v6 review.

The Terms tie your rights to the download. Since 3 September: "You may not commercially exploit Output that has not been downloaded by you through an approved channel under these Terms of Service." On the free tier, Suno's help centre says "we retain ownership of the songs you generate." And if you don't accept the new Terms, they say users "must close their account prior to their renewal date or thirty (30) days after the effective date, whichever occurs first": 3 October 2026 at the latest.

The studio sits behind the top tier. Suno's help centre: "Studio is included in the Premier subscription tier." It is "not compatible with VST or Audio Units plugins", and "mobile devices are not supported." Whether that is worth $30 a month is in is Suno Studio worth it.

Before you go: what to take with you

Your paid month is the best download window you will get. When a plan ends, Suno says "downloads follow free tier limits."

1. Download the songs you'd release first. Pro allows 20 downloads a month and Premier 60, and "unused downloads don't carry over." A song downloaded once can be downloaded again in any format without using another, and its stems count as part of that one download.
2. Take WAV on suno.com. WAV is for Pro and Premier only; "mobile downloads default to MP3."
3. Keep the rights with the file. Suno's FAQ: "For any song that you download from the platform as a paying subscriber, you have the commercial rights to the music". Songs made on the free plan "cannot be monetized", and subscribing later gives no retroactive licence.
4. Spend your top-ups. Purchased credits "do not expire, but require an active subscription to use."
5. Copy out your lyrics. Paste the words you wrote into a text file. In Veena they can sit in the Notes pad next to your project.

Your first evening in Veena

Leave Suno, keep producing in Veena. Start from a sentence, then bring in your own recordings.

1. Open daw.veena.studio and sign in with Google. Nothing to install and no graphics card: the AI runs on Veena's servers, the studio runs in Chrome and other modern browsers on Mac, Windows, Linux and Chromebook.
2. Describe the song like a producer. Paste the prompt at the end of this page: an indie pop song at 104 BPM in A major with its drums, bass, guitars, Rhodes and every section's bar count. CoProducer plans the sections and writes the parts as real tracks.
3. Pick, don't re-roll. Each new part arrives as 3 options. Preview them, pick one, and CoProducer writes whatever depends on it around the part you chose.
4. Change one thing at a time. Type "make the drums half-time", "swap the piano for a Rhodes" or "add a bridge", or open the piano roll and drag a single note. Every CoProducer change is one Ctrl/Cmd+Z away.
5. Bring your own recordings. Drag in voice memos, demos, loops or old bounces: 13 audio formats, MIDI files and video. CoProducer measures the take's tempo and where each syllable lands, and every new part follows that phrasing. In Veena's own data, about 1 in 4 new users' first requests refer to their own audio.
6. Record the vocal yourself. Press record, set a count-in, and a red box shows where the take will land. CoProducer builds every instrumental part around your voice.
7. Export as often as you like. Account menu, Export: WAV 24-bit/48 kHz, MP3 320 kbps or MIDI, the full mix or every track in one zip, with no watermark on your exports. The details are in Veena's export formats.

Your plug-ins come too: VST3 and AU on a Mac, VST3 on Windows, through the Veena Bridge helper app. And a songwriting partner can join the same session in real time, live since 12 September 2026.
