Is the Beat Maker in Veena free?

Yes. The Beat Maker, all 7 drum kits, the 16-pad MPC Sampler and exporting your beat cost nothing on any Veena plan, and there's no watermark on the file. Asking CoProducer to write drums uses your daily CoProducer allowance on the free plan; picking between its options doesn't count, and a failed run is refunded.

How many drum kits does Veena have?

As of September 2026, Veena has 7 built-in drum kits: Pop, Chaos, JCLive, Brush, Electronic, TR909 and Jazz. On top of those you can load your own one-shots onto the 16-pad MPC Sampler, pull drum loops and hits from Veena's sample search, or play your own drum plug-ins through Veena Bridge on Mac and Windows.

Can I use my own drum samples in Veena?

Yes. Create a MIDI clip, choose MPC Sampler and drag a WAV, MP3 or other audio file onto any of the 16 pads; each pad has its own gain, pan and pitch. You can also drop a whole drum loop on the timeline, and CoProducer builds the rest of the beat around it.

Can CoProducer add swing or humanize my drums in Veena?

Yes. Select the drum clip and ask CoProducer to humanize it, swing the hats or tighten it to the grid. It edits the notes of your existing clip in place and keeps your kit, and one Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) undoes the whole change if you preferred it before.

How to make beats and drums in Veena by hand

Create a drum clip. Click Create MIDI Clip, the piano icon with a plus beside Upload in the transport bar. Veena adds an empty 4-bar clip to the first free track and opens its Instrument tab.
Choose Drum Maker. The clip's first tab in the dock becomes Beat Maker, a step sequencer.
Pick a kit from the preset list: Pop, Chaos, JCLive, Brush, Electronic, TR909 or Jazz.
Click steps to place hits. Each bar has 16 steps, four per beat. Kick, Snare, Hihat and Hihat Open are always there; Add brings in Clap, Rim, toms, Crash, Ride, Tambourine, Cowbell and more, and the × on a row removes it. Drag along a row to paint a run of hats.
Shape the dynamics. Drag a hit's velocity handle up or down, from 1 to 127 (new hits start at 100). Quiet snares are your ghost notes.
Loop and listen. Press Space to play and drag across the ruler to loop a bar while you work. Set the tempo in the transport bar, anywhere from 40 to 300 BPM, or tap it in from the metronome's options menu.
Extend it. Copy and paste the clip with Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V (Cmd on a Mac), or right-click it and choose Duplicate Selected Clip.

Ask CoProducer for the groove

Open Ask CoProducer in the dock and brief it the way you'd brief a session drummer, with genre, tempo, feel and length:

"Make an 8-bar boom bap beat at 92 BPM: dusty kick, snare on 2 and 4, swung 16th hats."
"Trap drums at 140 BPM in half-time, with rolling hi-hats and a triplet burst at the end of every 4 bars."
"Keep the kick and snare, but make the hats busier in the chorus and add a fill before the drop."

CoProducer writes the part and offers 3 options in one carousel. Hover a card to hear it (a drum preview sounds exactly like the clip you'll place), use ↑ and ↓ to browse and press Enter to add. On a new song it also sets a tempo that suits the genre. It can humanize or quantize a drum part, add dropouts, stagger when the kit comes in and duplicate a loop with variation so bar 8 doesn't sound like bar 1. One Ctrl+Z undoes any change it makes.

Tips from the session

Let CoProducer choose the order. It doesn't always start with the drums. When a part has to lock to the groove, like an 808, it waits for the drums and reads the notes actually placed, so the bass lands with the kick. More in basslines and 808s.
Build on a loop you already love. Drop a drum loop onto the timeline and ask CoProducer to write around it. The first imported clip sets the project tempo.
Beatbox it. Record the groove with your voice (recording in Veena) and ask CoProducer to turn it into a drum part on a kit.
Take the drums anywhere. Export the drum track on its own as a stem, or as MIDI to play it on another kit in any DAW; see export formats.
