Free AI Sample Finder

Updated September 2026By Veena Studio

The best sample finder is one with a producer attached, and Veena builds one into an AI DAW with a personal music producer. Describe the sound you're after in plain words and CoProducer searches a licensed professional catalogue plus Veena's own curated library, brings back 10 previews, and drops the one you pick straight onto your timeline at the song's tempo. Free, in your browser.

No folder to dig through, no download to drag in, no tempo to fix by hand. The search, the sample and the song are in one place, so the next move, a bassline under the loop or a riser into the chorus, is one more sentence.

What the sample finder searches

SourceWhat's in it
Licensed professional catalogueA deep catalogue of loops, one-shots and effects, searched in the same request
Veena's curated library27,356 samples: 16,020 one-shots and 11,336 loops across 10 categories
Your own soundsEverything you upload, kept in the Library's Uploaded section

CoProducer searches for more than drums: one-shots, loops, textures, sound effects, transitions, vocal chops and ambience. It turns messy human phrasing into a real search, so artist names, vibes and genre slang all work: "a Dilla-style snare", "something like rain on a window", "a dnb break".

How to use the sample finder

  1. Ask CoProducer. Open Ask CoProducer at daw.veena.studio and describe the sound the way you'd describe it to a producer sitting next to you: "a pitched vocal chop in F minor, airy and bright".
  2. Audition the 10 cards. Each card shows the sample's waveform and length. Hover a card to hear it, or move through the list with the up and down arrows and each one plays as you land on it.
  3. Pick one. Press Enter or click the card. The sample drops onto your timeline as an audio clip and is saved to your project.
  4. Not quite it? Press More Options for a fresh round, or Skip to move on without adding anything.
  5. Place it across the song. Ask CoProducer to "spread this loop across bars 9 to 24" and it lines the copies up on the bar lines.

Changed your mind? One undo takes the clip back off the timeline.

A sample finder that lands samples in time

A sample is only found when it plays in your song. Veena measures the tempo of every sample CoProducer places. When the read is confident, a loop is stretched to your project tempo without changing its pitch. On an empty project, the first sample sets the tempo instead, so you can start a song from the loop you love.

For the last detail, select the clip and open its Waveform tab:

  • Match BPM fits a loop to your tempo, and lets you correct the tempo Veena heard.
  • Pitch Shift moves a sample up or down to the song's key.
  • Find Key tells you what key a loop is in.
  • Convert to MIDI turns a melodic loop into notes you can edit in the piano roll.

Or drag the clip's right edge to stretch it in time without changing its pitch.

Build around the sample you found

Finding the sound is the start of the song, not the end of the search:

  • Build a beat around a loop. "Write a drum groove, a bassline and chords around this loop" gives you every part on its own track, at the loop's tempo. The free online beat maker walks through building a beat from scratch.
  • Let CoProducer choose. Ask for a whole beat and CoProducer reaches for a sample by itself when audio suits the part better than MIDI, like a vinyl texture or a vocal chop.
  • Play your one-shots. Load one-shots onto the 16 pads of the MPC Sampler and play them from a keyboard, each pad with its own gain, pan and pitch.
  • Write the part instead. Can't find the perfect drum loop? The AI drum generator writes one as editable MIDI in your song's tempo and style.
  • Use your own plugins on it. Run the sample through your own VST3 plugins, plus Audio Units on Mac, with the Veena Bridge helper app.

Samples from Veena are licensed for use in your own songs, so the track you finish is yours to release and sell. Export WAV 24-bit/48 kHz, MP3, MIDI or MP4, the full mix or every track, as often as you like, with no watermark.

Keep going

The sample search help article covers every control and tip. The best AI sample finder roundup ranks the other ways to find a sound, and the Splice alternative shows how CoProducer writes the part when renting it isn't the answer. New to the terms? The glossary defines a sample and a loop.

Paste this into CoProducer to find your first sounds:

Try this in Veena

Find me a dusty vinyl drum break around 90 BPM for this lo-fi track and put it under bars 1 to 16, then a soft vinyl crackle texture to run under the whole song and a short reverse-cymbal riser that ends on the downbeat of bar 17.

Frequently asked questions

Is Veena's sample finder free?

Yes. Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser. A sample search is one CoProducer request on the free plan, and picking a card or pressing Skip isn't another.

How do I find a sample in Veena?

Open Ask CoProducer and describe the sound: what it is, how it should feel, and the tempo or key if it's a loop. CoProducer brings back 10 preview cards. Hover a card to hear it, press Enter or click to drop it on your timeline, or press More Options for a fresh round.

What does Veena's sample finder search?

Two libraries in one request: a licensed professional catalogue of loops, one-shots and effects, and Veena's own curated library of 27,356 samples. It finds drums, one-shots, loops, textures, sound effects, transitions, risers, vocal chops and ambience, and your own uploads sit in the Library, ready to reuse in any project.

Will the sample match my song's tempo?

Veena measures every sample CoProducer places. A loop with a confident tempo read is stretched to your project tempo without changing its pitch, and on an empty project the first sample sets the project tempo instead. Match BPM, Pitch Shift and Find Key on the clip's Waveform tab fine-tune any sample by hand.

Can I release a song that uses samples from Veena?

Yes. Veena's terms license its sounds, samples, loops, presets and instruments for use within your own projects, so a song that uses them is yours to release and sell, with no royalties to Veena. The one limit is redistributing the samples themselves as standalone files or sample packs.

Can Veena build a beat around a sample I found?

Yes, and that is the point of finding it inside a studio. Ask CoProducer to write drums, bass and chords around the loop you picked and it builds them at the song's tempo on their own tracks. When it builds a whole beat, it can reach for a sample by itself where audio suits the song better than MIDI.
