Veena Bridge and plugin troubleshooting
Veena Bridge troubleshooting starts with how Bridge works: it is a small, free helper app that runs invisibly on your Mac or Windows PC and hands your own VST3 and AU plugins to the Veena studio in your browser. When plugins go missing, the fix is nearly always one of three things: launch Bridge, allow local network access, or install a plugin version Bridge can host.
How Veena Bridge works
- Install once. On a Mac, open the disk image, drag Veena Bridge into Applications and open it. On Windows, run the Veena Bridge installer.
- It stays out of sight. Bridge has no window and no dock or taskbar icon, and it starts at login. The only windows you ever see are your plugins' own editors.
- It scans when it starts. Bridge reads your standard plugin folders at startup and serves them to the studio on your own computer.
- Formats, as of September 2026: Audio Unit and VST3 on macOS (signed and notarised), VST3 on Windows. VST2 plugins aren't hosted, and ChromeOS and Linux show "Not available on your device".
Veena Bridge troubleshooting: what the studio shows

CoProducer notices too: if your plugins are offline while it produces, its card reads "Local plug-ins are offline" and asks you to open Veena Bridge so it can include them.
Allow local network access
Chrome and other Chromium browsers ask before a website may talk to apps on your computer, and Bridge is one of those apps. If you blocked the prompt:
- On daw.veena.studio, click the icon at the left of the address bar.
- Open the site's settings and set Local network access to Allow.
- Return to the studio and press Launch again.
The Windows SmartScreen prompt
Veena Bridge for Windows is new, so SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC" the first time. Choose More info, then Run anyway. The prompt is expected for now, and it appears when you run the installer.
Plugins missing or marked in the list
Open a clip's FX tab and choose VST for effects, or pick VSTi in the Instrument menu for instruments. Each plugin is marked supported, "May be unstable" or "Not supported", sometimes with a reason:

A plugin isn't listed at all? It may be VST2 only (install its VST3 version), installed in a custom folder (reinstall it to the standard location), or installed after Bridge started. Bridge scans at startup, so restart it: on a Mac, quit Veena Bridge in Activity Monitor; on Windows, end it in Task Manager. Then press Launch, or simply restart your computer.
Still not connecting? Bridge serves your plugins on your computer's port 8080. If another program already uses that port, such as a local web server, Bridge can't start: close that program and press Launch.
Plugins in a shared session
When a collaborator uses a plugin you don't own, their computer renders the part and shares the audio, so you hear it in the song. The card reads Locked, names whose machine runs it, and notes "You can still edit everything else in this chain." If it reads "No one in this session can run this plug-in", the person who owns it needs to open the project.

What does "Needs Intel bridge" mean in Veena?
The plugin is built only for Intel Macs, and your Mac has Apple Silicon, where Veena Bridge runs natively and can't load Intel-only code. Install the plugin maker's Apple Silicon or Universal version, restart Veena Bridge so it scans your plugins again, and the plugin shows up in Veena's list ready to use.
Does Veena Bridge work with VST2 plugins?
No. Veena Bridge hosts VST3 plugins on Windows, and Audio Unit and VST3 plugins on macOS. Most current instruments and effects ship a VST3 version alongside VST2, so install that one in the standard plugin folder, restart Veena Bridge, and it appears in Veena's plugin list next to the 10 built-in effects.
