AI Beat Maker
Veena is a free AI beat maker inside a full AI DAW. Type the beat you hear, "dark 140 BPM trap in C minor, sliding 808s, an eerie bell melody", and CoProducer, your personal music producer, builds the drums, the 808 and the melody as separate real tracks, offers three options for each, and lets you change any hit.
An AI beat generator hands you a finished loop and a download button. Veena hands you a session: a kick you can move, an 808 you can re-pitch, a melody you can swap to strings, and a producer who takes the next note from you.
How the AI beat maker builds a beat
- It reads your request and acts. Genre, tempo, key, kit, feel: CoProducer fills in whatever you didn't say instead of asking. On an empty project it sets a tempo that suits the genre.
- It plans the beat. Sections (intro, hook, verse, break, drop, outro), bar lengths and which layers play where. A full beat is three musical layers, four when the genre calls for it, plus at most one audio element such as a vocal chop or a texture. A quick idea runs 12 to 16 bars.
- It writes in the order the music needs. Parts that stand alone are written at the same time. The 808 that has to lock to the kick waits for the drums and reads the kick notes actually on the timeline.
- You choose. Every new part arrives as three option cards in one carousel: ↑ and ↓ to browse, hover to hear, Enter to add, More Options for a fresh set. Drum previews sound exactly like the clip you'll place, and picking doesn't touch your daily allowance.
- It finishes, then tells the truth. A production pass sets levels, pan and effects. Then CoProducer lists what it delivered and anything it skipped, read from what is actually on your timeline, with two to four next steps you can click.

Steer the beat in plain words
The first result is the start of the session, not the end of it. Say what you'd say to a producer sitting next to you:
| You say | What CoProducer does |
|---|---|
| "Make the 808 slide into bar 4" | Rewrites the 808's last notes with a glide into the next bar |
| "Swap the melody to Pizzicato Strings" | Changes the instrument and keeps every note |
| "Double-time hats in the second half of the hook" | Rewrites the hats for those bars only |
| "Add a vocal chop on the and of 4" | Searches the sample library and shows 10 preview cards |
| "Drop everything but the melody for the first 4 bars" | Arranges a dropout so the drums enter on bar 5 |
| "Give it a lo-fi vibe" | Restyles the loop with a dusty lo-fi character |
| "Make it 150 BPM" | Changes the project tempo |
One undo reverses any of it. Prefer to program the kick yourself? Every beat opens in the free online beat maker grid, and the AI drum generator writes drums on their own.
Genres that land on the first try
Name the genre. In Veena's own data, 3 in 4 new users (75.7%) whose first request asks for a new song get a finished first result on day one, and 81.5% do when the request names a genre. For beats: R&B 89.0%, trap 83.6%, hip hop 82.1%, house 81.7%, lo-fi 76.5%, afrobeats 75.9%.
Four starting points to paste and change:
- Boom bap: "92 BPM boom bap in A minor, dusty Pop kit drums with the kick on the and of 3, Acoustic Bass, jazzy Electric Piano chords, swung hats."
- R&B: "70 BPM R&B in E♭ major, Electronic kit with a soft clap, Sub Bass, Electric Piano ninth chords, a Vox Pad underneath."
- Afrobeats: "104 BPM afrobeats in G major, bouncy Electronic kit with a shaker on the 16ths, Round Bass, bright Snap Pluck chords, space for a vocal."
- House: "124 BPM deep house in A minor, TR909 four on the floor, open hats on the offbeat, Deep House Bass, Warm Pad chords."
The low end has its own tool too: the bassline generator writes to whatever kick you keep.

Soundverse sends the producing somewhere else. Its AI beat maker hands you a WAV plus stems "to tweak in your own DAW". Free accounts get 1,000 tokens, and its licensing FAQ is blunt: on the free trial "You can't monetise your creations", a paid release "can't have 100% of Soundverse generated content", and owning the audio takes a separately charged "Full Ownership License" (Soundverse's AI beat maker page and help centre, September 2026).
Soundraw meters your own downloads. Its Artist Starter plan is $25.99 a month for 10 MP3 downloads, WAV and stems start at $38.99 a month, and its license lets you put a beat on Spotify "only if you modify the beats first" (Soundraw's pricing and license pages, September 2026). Read more in our Soundraw alternative guide.
BandLab's AI beats aren't yours to keep. SongStarter runs on Tokens, 15 a month for every user, and BandLab's help centre says "you won't own the rights to the generated track" (BandLab's help centre, September 2026).
Mubert keeps the rights, and the exit. Its license page says "Mubert owns all the rights to the tracks generated"; its FAQ answers "No" to publishing tracks on Spotify, and after a subscription ends you can't use previously generated tracks in new projects (Mubert's pricing and license pages, September 2026). There's a full Mubert alternative breakdown too.
Veena is the AI beat maker that builds the beat with you, gives you every hit as a track you own, and lets it leave as a 24-bit WAV or a zip of stems whenever you like. Still deciding whether a machine can do this at all? Start with can AI make beats?
Try this in Veena
Make a 140 BPM trap beat in C minor: Electronic kit, half-time clap on beat 3, 8th-note hi-hats with triplet rolls every fourth bar, an 808 Glide that follows the kick and slides into bar 4, and an eerie Bell Pluck melody over Cm, Ab, Fm, G. 8-bar intro, 16-bar hook, 8-bar verse with only drums and 808, 16-bar hook.
Frequently asked questions
Is Veena's AI beat maker free?
Yes. Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser. Beats come with a daily CoProducer allowance and exports with no cap, and Veena Pro, at $20 a month, removes the daily request cap and unlocks the premium models.
What genres can Veena's AI beat maker make?
Any genre you can describe. CoProducer has dedicated guidance for 20 genre styles, and among its most-requested are cinematic, pop, house, rock and hip hop, with hip hop the largest overall. Trap, drill, boom bap, lo-fi, afrobeats, reggaeton, R&B, techno and drum and bass all work: name the genre, tempo and key, and Veena picks the kit and sounds to match.
Can I edit the beat after CoProducer makes it?
Every hit. The drums open in Veena's Beat Maker, a 16-step-per-bar grid where you add, remove or re-velocity any step, and the 808 and melody open in the piano roll. Or ask in plain words, like "move the clap to beat 3" or "double the hats in bar 8", and CoProducer edits just that part. One undo reverses any CoProducer change.
Can I sell beats made with Veena's AI beat maker?
Yes. Veena's terms say "you own the Output you generate through your use of the Service", on the free plan and on Veena Pro alike. Your beats export with no watermark as 24-bit WAV, 320 kbps MP3, MIDI or a zip of stems, as often as you like, ready to lease, sell or send to the artist who wants them.
Can the AI beat maker build on my own sample or loop?
Yes. Drop your loop, sample or voice memo on the timeline and ask CoProducer to build on it. Veena measures its tempo and downbeat, sets the project tempo to match, and writes the drums, 808 and melody around it. It can also chop your recording into a new groove, re-voice it as another instrument, or turn it into MIDI.
How is Veena different from Soundraw or Mubert?
Veena hands you the beat as separate, editable tracks you own, free. Soundraw's Artist Starter plan costs $25.99 a month for 10 MP3 downloads, and Mubert's license page says "Mubert owns all the rights to the tracks generated", with 5 MP3 downloads a month on its free plan (their pricing and license pages, September 2026).
